Anniversaries and memories.
Bernice and I have been blessed by being able to celebrate our Wedding Anniversaries after 25 years [Silver] 40 years [Ruby] 50 Years[gold] and 60 years [Diamond.] There are anniversaries for shorter periods of time; paper, cotton, tin and others, though these are rarely observed. Also, the next one, after 70 years is a platinum anniversary, which can only be celebrated by those with sufficient stamina.
Sadly we did not notice the 50th anniversary of the first time we worshipped at Lynch Chapel
In July 1970, on our first visit, there was a pipe organ in the transept next to the vestry door. It was played By Ken Brown of the Brown’s Corner family. Ken was also Church Secretary.
Arthur Simmonds was minister. Harold Flook was Treasurer and Choir Master. The Sunday School leader was Charles Voyle, assisted by Gillian Voyle, June Hall and Beryl Green, and I was soon asked to join that team too . There were 2 Mesdames Brown in membership – Doris,[wife) of Ken and also Maud Brown.
Of course, there were wooden pews, which were later replaced by the chairs we now know.
After all the changes we thank God for the friends and fellowship we have known here.
